Helping Students Achieve Educational Milestones Community colleges are more affordable than four-year universities, but many students still encounter financial challenges. To help students, Sycuan Casino Resort partnered with the Foundation for Grossmont and Cuyamaca College to award a total of $10,000 in scholarships on Thursday, Oct. 3. “Scholarships provided by Sycuan gives these deserving and talented students a needed boost to launch them into their careers. Thank you for believing in our students and investing in their futures,” said Sally Cox, CEO at the Foundation for Grossmont and Cuyamaca College. Tribal Council members presented a $10,000 scholarship to Grossmont students from the Administration of Justice, Culinary Arts, Marketing and Hospitality Tourism department, providing them resources needed to succeed in their educational and professional pursuits. Sycuan Casino Resort also offered students the opportunity to have a Zoom call with a member of our senior leadership team of the field in which they are studying to help with career guidance, networking and gain industry insights. At Grossmont Community College, Sycuan Tribal Council members toured the Culinary Arts building, where students obtain hands-on training in the kitchen, from managing a restaurant to creating gourmet dishes, mastering baking techniques and understanding the culinary world in more detail. Then the Tribal Council members visited the Grossmont College Performing and Visual Arts Center, the newest building on the campus. Amazed by the beautiful stage, art and various programs students are offered, Tribal Council members discovered that this is where students gain invaluable real-life career experiences, preparing them for success in their chosen career. Conclusion Tribal Council members of Sycuan Casino Resort presented a $10,000 donation to Grossmont College students to support their educational expenses.
